What are Symptoms of the Flu?
With flu season upon us, it’s important to know the symptoms and dangers
Sanaz Majd, MD
The flu is definitely not your “routine cold” and can wreak havoc on the body. Here are the most prominent flu symptoms:
-
Fever (which commonly gets to 103 F or higher)
-
Body aches (not subtle; more like the morning after you’ve been beaten with a baseball bat)
-
Headache
-
Chills and sweats
-
Productive cough
-
Shortness of breath
-
Head congestion
-
Sore throat
Less common symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, and even more rarely, neurologic symptoms like seizures and dramatic mental status changes. See your doctor immediately if you experience any of these.
