Save Time by Simplifying Your Inboxes
Social media is such a joy! I’m kidding, of course. Now some people send me email, others send me MySpace messages, others send LinkedIn messages, and still others send email on Facebook. If this is a problem for you, too, read on.
Email consolidation is the answer!! My new policy: regularly check my regular email inbox only. If anyone emails on a social networking site, a community site, or the like, they get a reply with a canned form letter: “I no longer receive email on social networking sites. Please email me directly at getitdone@quickanddirtytips.com if you need to contact me.” You can do the same thing to train people to send everything to the inbox you read most. (Though you should probably give them your own email address, rather than mine…)
In short order, the people who would rely on social media email get trained to use regular email. And now, instead of needing to remember to check a gazillion social media sites AND an email inbox, everything important will once again be sent directly to your email inbox.
