All-Natural Beauty Night: DIY Face Masks, Toner, and More
Sit back, relax, and have a spa night … without spending a ton of money on expensive skincare items! These DIY versions—including an exfoliater, toner, face masks, and more—are even fun to make with friends, so make it a spa party.
DIY Face Exfoliant
After washing your face, rub a paste of kosher salt, apple juice, and olive oil gently over your skin. When mixing the ingredients together, start with the salt and add a tiny bit of apple juice and then a tiny bit of olive oil—it should be paste-consistency, and the salt shouldn’t dissolve. If you have sensitive skin, try coffee grounds instead of salt for a less-coarse exfoliant.
DIY Toner
After removing any dead skin with the exfoliant, it’s time for an all-natural toner! Toner will help your face get a fresh look, reduce puffiness, and tighten your pores. To make your own all-natural version, combine a quarter of a cucumber (no need to peel) with 1½ tablespoons witch hazel and 1 tablespoon water (distilled if you have it) in a blender. Add a little lemon juice and blend until smooth (which should only take a minute). Push through a mesh tea strainer and throw out the solids. Store the toner in the fridge, and when you’re ready to use it, dab on your face with a cotton pad or ball. It can be used daily and should last a few weeks.
Homemade Face Masks
Now for my favorite part of Beauty Night: face masks! Try one of these all-natural face masks, depending on what kind of skin you have. (If you can’t decide, go for the simple avocado!)
How to Make Your Own Moisturizer
No Beauty Night would be complete without moisturizer! Moisturizer is a little harder to make from ingredients you already have around your home. You’ll need to buy some vegetable glycerin, which can be found at vitamin shops, health-food stores, and at Amazon.com.
