According to the latest dietary surveys, sweetened beverages like soda, juice drinks, sports drinks, and so-called “vitamin waters” now account for up to 20% of the calories consumed by the average American. And these calories aren’t being consumed instead of other calories but in addition to them, leading to weight gain. By replacing just one sweetened beverage with water every day, you could lose a half pound a week.
