Q. Is it OK to take Beano with Metamucil fiber pills?
Answer. Yes. Although both of these products are designed to address problems with the digestive system, they work completely differently.
BEANO™ contains an enzyme that helps break down sugars in vegetables and legumes which can sometimes cause intestinal gas.
Fiber pills can help relieve and prevent constipation.
BEANO does its work primarily in the small intestine and fiber in the large intestine — so the two shouldn’t interfere with one another.
Ironically, however, the type of fiber in Metamucil can contribute to intestinal gas — so you might be caught in a vicious cycle!
