Ask the Diva: Can You Get Enough Omega-3 from Flax?
Q. I have read that flax is not the best source of Omega 3s because it lacks EPA. Can vegetarians get good sources of Omega 3s through foods or do we have to take a supplement such as Omega 3 from algae?
Answer. It’s true that the type of omega-3 fats found in flaxseed are not as potent as the type found in fish. However, there are some ways that you can get more benefit from vegetarian sources of omega-3s. Check my episode on Fish Oil and Omega-3s for a detailed discussion on this.
