Ask the Diva: What Do You Do if You Don’t Like Fish?
Q. We’re all supposed to be eating fish twice a week for the health benefits. What do you do if you don’t like fish? How can get omega-3 in my diet?
Answer. Many people who don’t care for seafood take a fish oil supplement instead to get those omega-3 fats. There are also vegetarian sources of omega-3 fats, such as flax, chia, hemp, and walnuts. For example, you could add a tablespoon or two of flax or chia seeds (found at health food stores) to your morning smoothie for a shot of omega-3s. Vegetarian sources of omega-3 are not quite as potent as the type found in fish–but in a previous episode, I talked about how you can help your body get more benefit from vegetarian omega-3s.
