Get-Fit Guy’s Top 3 Fitness Trends for 2013
Get-Fit Guy predicts the top 3 fitness trends for 2013. Does your favorite trend make the cut?
by Ben Greenfield
Every year, new fitness trends emerge, and 2013 will be no exception. Here are my predictions for the top 3 fitness trends of 2013:
Trend #1: Body Weight Training
Body-weight exercises use minimal equipment and include push-ups, pull-ups, planks, and squats. According to a new study in the American College of Sports Medicine, more and more people are using body weight exercises. Whether that’s due to the financial stresses of paying for a gym membership or simply the desire to work out at home, you’ll see more exercise enthusiasts using body weight training, and you can get started now with 3 Body Weight Exercises You Must Learn.
Trend #2: Exercise Programs for Kids
In the past year, our awareness of childhood obesity has exploded, and more schools are now participating in exercise programs. There’s also a surge in community-based physical activity programs to prevent and treat the growing childhood obesity rates in America. So how much should your kids exercise? Find out here. Trend #3: More Personal Trainers
According to the U.S. Labor Department, jobs for fitness workers are expected to rise in 2013 much faster than the average for all other occupations, so you may see more and more trainers walking around your gym. Be sure to read my episode on How to Choose a Personal Trainer if you’re wondering which personal trainer is right for you.
By the way, hopefully by now you’ve read my article on avoiding the top 6 New Year’s resolution mistakes. But have you actually made a fitness resolution for 2013?
If so, then you’ll find that one of the best ways to motivate yourself to achieve your resolution is to share it with others! This produces extrinsic motivation that can help bring your goal achievement to the next level.
This is where the Get-Fit Guy Facebook community can help you tremendously. I’ve just started a thread there where you can share your resolution – and get tips and support from others. So what are you waiting for? Go post your resolution today.
