Quick Tip: A Use for Leftover Bread
Baguettes and sourdough bread can stale quickly. This easy trick turns leftover bread into gourmet crostini that will keep for two weeks:
-
Slice the bread thinly into ¼ inch slices. If the slices are very large, cut them into smaller pieces.
-
Spread the bread in a single layer on a baking sheet; brush with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt.
-
Toast the bread in a 300 degree oven until lightly browned on the bottom (about ten minutes). Flip slices and toast until completely crisp (another ten to fifteen minutes).
When cool, store in an air-tight container. Serve with cheese, dip, or as an accompaniment to soup or stew.
