Last week’s podcast on The 10 Most Nutritious Foods for the Money appears to have struck a nerve; it was one of the most shared posts of the year so far. Obviously, many of us are looking for ways to stretch that healthy dollar, so here are even more resources to help you save money and get the most nutritious food for the dollar.
Money-Saving Tip #1: Waste Less Food
A third of the food that’s produced worldwide ends up in the trash. Whether it’s food stuck in a warehouse or forgotten in the back of your refrigerator until it is no longer edible, that’s good money (and nutrients) down the drain. In a past episode, Nutrition Diva listeners shared a bundle of great tips on cutting down on food waste—everything from creative ways to use leftovers to tips for extending the shelf life of your groceries.

Money-Saving Tip #2: Have a Plan
You can also save a lot of money by getting more organized about your food purchases. Plan your meals and put together your shopping list before you head to the store. Even better, pick the week’s meals based on what’s on sale at the grocery store this week.
Our own Domestic CEO has lots of great tips for planning meals and saving money at the grocery store, And if you just don’t have the time or inclination to do this yourself, consider a meal-plan subscription service, such as emeals.com. The money you save by having a ready-to-go healthy meal plan and shopping list could easily pay for the service.
You can even tell them where you shop for groceries and they’ll help you save money by featuring ingredients that are currently on sale at your store. More details here: An Easy, Stress-Free Way to Plan Healthy Meals,
