Quick Tip for Paying Your Mortgage
If you’re having trouble paying your mortgage due to a financial hardship, you may qualify for one of the relief options in the government’s Making Home Affordable Program, such as a loan modification.
To apply for the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), you must own and live in your home, have taken out your mortgage before 2009, and have a monthly payment (including property tax, insurance, and home owner dues) that exceeds 31% of your monthly gross (pre-tax) income. Be sure to visit makinghomeaffordable.gov for more program details.
