The Benefits of Tea

Black tea contains catechins, natural compounds which help prevent increases in blood pressure. But adding milk to tea may reduce this benefit. A protein in cow’s milk binds to the catechins and renders them inactive. Catechins are just one of many beneficial compounds in tea so don’t worry if you like your tea with milk. But if you want to get the maximum benefit from your tea, consider drinking it with lemon instead. Or, use a soy creamer or another non-dairy creamer.
