A child who refuses to eat vegetables can be a big source of stress for parents who are trying to raise healthy eaters. Some kids just seem to be born with a taste for vegetables—they’ll eat whatever you put in front of them. Others steadfastly refuse to let a single carrot pass their lips. If you’re currently pregnant or breast-feeding, you may have an opportunity to have a positive influence on your child’s future preferences and eating habits. Research suggests babies born to mothers who eat lots of vegetables during pregnancy and/or while they are breast-feeding seem to have a greater affinity for the taste of vegetables. So, belly up to that salad bar, Moms and Moms-to-be! (You’ll benefit as much as your baby.)
