What’s the Shelf Life of Nutritional Yeast?

Ask the Diva: What’s the Shelf Life of Nutritional Yeast?
Q. How long can you store nutritional yeast? We buy it in bulk at Whole Foods and wondered the best way to keep it and for how long.
Answer. Nutritional yeast should be stored in a cool, dry place. I keep mine in the fridge because my kitchen can get kind of hot in the summer. Buying in bulk is a great way to save money. The only problem is that you can’t see the expiration date! I think it’s a safe bet that Whole Foods doesn’t keep nutritional yeast around for more than a month or so. I suggest you label your container with the date you purchased the yeast and, to be on the safe side, discard it after a year.
