Does Liposuction Work?
Is liposuction an effective way to lose weight and be “heathier”?

Does Liposuction Work?
There’s been a lot of talk recently in the news about studies that have linked the fat that is specifically located on your belly and in and around your stomach area as putting you at a higher risk for death or cardiovascular disease.
So why not just get surgery, like liposuction, and get that fat sucked out?
Here’s why: the storage fat, or “adipose tissue” in your tummy releases a lot of hormones and important proteins, and is partially responsible for helping your organs communicate with each other.
So in appropriate amounts, belly fat is actually necessary for things like reproduction and hormone production. This is why I define the lowest proper body fat in “What Is A Normal Body Fat?”
But when you suck out the belly fat, there’s a possibility, demonstrated in a recent University of Colarado liposuction study, that the brain actually senses that the fat is gone, and makes up for this by taking the food you eat, converting it into fat and putting it right back there in the belly–and this can happen within a year!
So yes, liposuction can work. But no, the results may not last, especially if you’re not focused on proper lifestyle and dietary adjustments–and even then, the fat might come back.
The best bet is to live an active, healthy lifestyle, and if you have fat to burn, start moving!
