In the episode “How to Do High Intensity Interval Training” you learn that high intensity interval training is a popular form of exercise that combines hard efforts with subsequent easy efforts to actually allow you to inject much higher amounts of fitness into your body compared to a long, steady technique.
In that episode, I told you that High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) works because it increases something called your post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) so that you keep on burning more calories long after you’ve finished the workout.
But what I didn’t tell you what that HIIT also
-
Upregulates levels of AMPK—a potent fat-burning enzyme that allows you to burn fats and carbohydrates more quickly and easily…
-
Engages more fast twitch muscle fiber, which is going to use more fuel and calories in a faster manner…
-
Tones and builds muscle at the same time that you’re doing cardio.
